Thorley Barns

The brief was to convert a 5 bay, timber frame, 17th century barn to office space.

The design involved creating a steel framed mezzanine floor within the existing timber framed barn and the repair of the existing structure to allow much of the timber framing to be exposed. The mezzanine floor also incorporated a link bridge with glass balustrades creating voids to maintain the open nature of the building. At the west end of the barn the ceiling height allowed a second storey gallery to be constructed.
