Kings College Garden Hostel

The Garden Hostel was an existing 1950’s student accommodation building located in the listed Fellow’s Garden. The project involved constructing a structurally independent modern extension to the accommodation to cater for 32 undergraduates.

The extension has a hybrid structure combining load bearing masonry, precast concrete, and steel framing to deliver the architects concept of a building that peels off its various layers of construction back to an exposed structural frame.
