Sustainable design allows re-use of existing steel frame
The building was a former battery hen house and was in very poor condition apart from the steel roof structure.
Detailed analysis of the steel frame confirmed that it could be re-used with local strengthening to support the new heavier roof construction. Other modifications were required to accommodate the large, glazed walls and rooflights.
External timber cladding maintained the agricultural look of the building whilst polished concrete floors and open plan spaces produced a modern feel internally.
