Valuable community facilities delivered for Grade II Listed church
The custodians of this village church needed to add a single storey meeting room, utility area and welfare facilities in an extension to the rear of the 14th Century Grade II Listed ecclesiastical building.
As the proposed extension was sited within the church graveyard, the foundations required a modified design that was suitable for this unique environment. Connecting the new build to the existing flintwork of the historic church also required careful detailing. AFP successfully developed a structural design that negated any differential movement between the new and the existing buildings.
Plans also included a vaulted roof with exposed oak beams within the new meeting room. AFP delivered the structural design with attention to both form and detail.
