Urgent repairs restore historically significant gatehouse
Built in the 15th Century, this rectangular gatehouse forms the main entrance to Queen’s College, with decorative octagonal towers forming each corner.
Following damage from leaking downpipes which caused decay, repairs were critically needed to the timber and lead roof.
First obtaining agreement from the Conservation Officer, AFP repaired and strengthened the roof timbers which restored the tower to its original state. Our Engineers also implemented a new base for the college flagpole, including brackets to secure the four restraining ties.
