| This
new library is a highly acclaimed new addition to the Cambridge
Backs landscape. It was built on a very congested site partly
in the river. A new archives room was built in the piled and
waterproofed concrete basement. A steel frame structure supports
the oak gable fenestration and upper timber floors. The complex
geometry was solved using extensive computer draughting.
